Christmas is just around the corner – how weird is that? The older we get, the quicker it seems to appear! And this is why you should mull everything in its wake.
With the weather turning chill and the days shorter, the nights longer, there’s every reason to get your mull on!
There’s not a drink in existence that doesn’t benefit from being warmed and gently spiced! We’re not just talking wine but cider, beer, rum punch and even negronis! A mulled alcoholic beverage can give you that warm and fuzzy glow which can be meditative, medicinal and enables you to rise serenely above seasonal blues. So, if in doubt, mull it.
Here is our favourite (and first) mulled recipe of the year. Bottoms up.
Spicy Mulled Negroni
2-3 dashes Tabasco Pepper Sauce
1 stick Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Black Peppercorns
1/8 tsp Fresh Ground Nutmeg
Orange peel, for garnish
Put all the ingredients except the Gin into a pot and simmer over a warm heat. Then add a nice splash of gin and pour your mulled Negroni into a heat-proof glass. Peel a zest of orange and stir the drink with it. Then kick your shoes off, get comfy, turn on your favourite film and forget there are 24 days until Christmas and only 31 until 2016!
