There was a time when eggs were said to be unhealthy. Eggs caused high cholesterol and clogged up your arteries and I even remember being told to eat only two eggs a week. So, we decided to find out exactly, what is it with eggs!
Well, to start off, the most important thing to mention is that eggs are very, very healthy. I don’t mean a little bit healthy, I mean seriously healthy. Eggs are probably one of the most nutritious foods on the planet. Now, I know you didn’t know that. If you think a little about it, eggs, would have to be amazingly healthy considering they contain all the goodness needs to make a healthy chick.
Eggs contain a variety of vitamins which include vitamine A, B5, B12, B2 as well as Folate, Phoserphous and Selenium – all vital for a healthy and balanced diet. Eggs hardly contain any calories, are enriched with Omega-3 oils and certainly don’t affect our cholestorol in a negative way. In fact, eggs raise the good part of our Cholesterol (HDL) keeping our cholestrol levels in perfect balance.
For those that thought carrots were good for your eyes, well, you’d be mistaken. Eggs are the true winners here. Eggs contain two ingredients called Lutein and Zeaxanthin – important antixidants which our eyes need. Eggs contain large amounts of Lutein and Zeaxanthin and just eating an egg yolk per day over a 4 week period will increase the amounts of these ingredients in your body and therefore for you eyes.
The above is really just a summary of how good eggs are for you. The benefits are even more, so my advice to you today is, go on, grab an egg!
